St. Valentine’s Day marked the start of our Friendship Week. We have lots of activities planned for the week but the most important part will be all the acts of kindness and true friendship that will be on display in our classrooms and on the yard.
Tuesday February 8th is Internet Safety Day.
We have been doing lots of activities about how to stay safe while online.
There are lots of good ideas on the Webwise website which can be found at this link: Webwise Safer Internet Day
All classes drew some very creative posters to raise awareness of internet safety. Our student council played a big part in promoting the day. Well done everyone!
We celebrated St. Brigid’s Day by making a variety of St. Brigid’s crosses throughout the school.
The senior classes joined our friends from Geashill Tidy Towns and some other community groups to help plant a new lime tree in the village in honour of St. Brigid.
They also took the opportunity to admire their beautiful St. Brigid art work which is on display in the village phone box.
If you are thinking of enrolling your children in our school please take a look at this video which hopefully gives you a flavour of life in Geashill NS.

There’s been a great Christmas spirit around the school in December. Lots of lovely Christmas art has been displayed while all classes have been preparing Christmas videos to send home to parents.
There was great excitement in all the classrooms as they watched the Helix online panto, Little Red Riding Hood.
Santa Claus paid a flying visit to all the classes and brought Christmas annuals for everyone.
We were delighted to attend the switching on of the Christmas tree lights and the unveiling of the crib in the village green on Thursday. We got into the festive spirit by singing Away in a Manger and Jingle Bells.
Our 4th Class had a video call with our friends in Jaux school as part of our local twinning project. Both Ms. Loquet’s and Mrs. Hyland’s classes were delighted to say hello to each other and see each other. Both classes sang some Christmas songs and have agreed to become pen pals in the new year. Thanks to the Ballinagar, Geashill and Ballycommon Twinning Committee for helping us with this.
We held our Christmas raffle today. See the results at the link below:
Thanks for everyone who took part. It is very much appreciated.
