Ukraine Collection

Thanks to everyone who took part in the recent collection for Ukraine. Everything dropped into the school was collected last week.  Please see below a thank you message that we received.

I would like to thank the staff of Geashill National School for letting me organise a collection point of donations for Ukraine at the school. Thanks to everyone involved.

King Regards,
Kalina Misiak.
The Geashill community has set up a Facebook page called Geashill Supporting Ukrainian Families.  Take a look to see what is being planned to help out any Ukrainian refugees who may come to our area.

Bee Bots in Junior & Senior Infants

Our Junior and Senior Infants had great fun using Bee Bots over the last few weeks.  A Bee Bot is a programmable bee robot that is designed to be used by children.  It can be programmed by using the arrows on its back to move forward, backwards or turn 90 degrees.  The basic idea is that young pupils program the Bee Bot to move along a grid or map in order to solve a problem.

Take a look at this short video of one Bee Bot in action after being programmed by a group of our infants.

Safer Internet Day

Tuesday February 8th is Internet Safety Day.

We have been doing lots of activities about how to stay safe while online.

There are lots of good ideas on the Webwise website which can be found at this link:  Webwise Safer Internet Day

All classes drew some very creative posters to raise awareness of internet safety. Our student council played a big part in promoting the day. Well done everyone!
