September

In September we welcomed the children back to school! We were all happy to be back and very excited to learn new things!

We are very creative and love to use playdough, manipulating playdough also helps our fine motor skills!

October

In October we were visited by a member of Geashill’s Tidy Towns Committee to sow Bluebells. We were all given the opportunity to sow two bulbs each, we are looking forward to seeing them bloom in the Spring!!

We also made bats for Hallowe’en using toilet paper rolls!

Did you know that bats sleep upside down?!

November

In November we became scientists and carried out many interesting experiments! Check out our PowerPoint presentation, it features all the experiments we carried out during Science week!

December

In December we had great fun knitting and baking some lovely treats. We also wrote some reports on some of our favourite Winter animals – we learned some very interesting facts about Polar bears, Arctic foxes, Penguins and Reindeer!

We were also visited by Eve our class elf from the North Pole, who joined us for our pizza party and the panto.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all of us in Cairdeas 1!

January

Happy New Year to you all! We have begun our second term with remote learning. The children are doing their best to engage with the work provided for them. We hope to return to our classroom soon!

  • Here are some photos of all the hard work being done by the children in Cairdeas at home! Super work everyone 😀 Some of us even got to bake some Gingerbread men – Can you find him?

February

Our remote learning challenge this month was ‘A Sign a Day’ – each day we learned a new word using ISL, the children uploaded themselves signing their new word onto ClassDojo.

We also returned to the classroom this month, which enabled all of us to spend time with our friends and to engage in classroom based learning again!

In February, we also celebrate the beginning of Spring and new life – this was reflected in our learning this month, check out our Spring poems and our farming activities (we made butter and tried it out on some cream crackers!)

March

We celebrated World Book Day on the 4th of March – we read the ‘Tale of Peter Rabbit’ and wrote beautiful book reports about Peter Rabbit.

We also celebrated St.Patrick’s Day by going ‘Green’ on the 16th of March. Geashill along with Ballinagar and Ballycommon are twinned with Jaux – a city in France, to celebrate this we coloured some lovely St. Patrick’s Day themed pictures.

Mother’s Day crafts

We really enjoyed making our Mother’s day crafts to bring home. Look at our beautiful cards and salt dough ornaments.

Happy Easter, wishing you all a healthy, happy and safe Easter. We celebrated the end of term with an Easter egg hunt, which was great fun!
